If I am using someones elses wireless network can they see what I am doing?

I ask this because I just picked up a wireless signal, without password protection. Can they see what I am doing? Or am I completely safe?

You are never completely safe on someone else’s network but it is not also an “easy” task to look into what you are doing(advanced skill)… it is a bit easier to see if you are on the network at all but this in itself is beyond many users knowledge. Make sure you have all windows updates and do not have any files in shared directories you would not want taken. That’s pretty much the dirt of it. If they know you are there and can see what you are doing they could probably find a way to do some harm too. It just depends on the skill and security the person uses on their network. If they are using a unprotected system most likely they don’t know how to secure it.
Good Luck!

No, you are not completely safe. However, the potential for the network owner to see what you’re doing depends on the network owner knowing HOW to monitor what different computers are doing on that network. Chances are, if the owner didn’t know how to encrypt his/her network, he/she won’t know how to check up on you. Still, I wouldn’t use my credit card or other important info if I wasn’t on a secured network.

That is called stealing, stop leaching off someone Else’s Internet and pay for your own Internet! plus if you do that then you will properly get a better signal because the wireless router will be in your house.
and yes if they log on to their router then they can see who is connected.
