Configuring wireless network connection status for windows XP?

October 1st, 2009 | by protection |
kenneth j asked:

I have a pc running on windows vista and i want to share my internet connection with a pc running on windows XP. I’ve set up a wireless ad hoc (computer-computer) network. I used WPA-2 Personal for password protection. I can detect the network on the windows XP pc and i can connect to it. The problem is when i look at the Wireless Network Connection Status, there are 2 sections. The connection section states the following.

Status: Connected
Network: Inspira
Duration: Time is running here
Speed: 54.0 Mbps
Signal Strength: Excellent (bars)

Another section below called Activity.

Shows the sent and received packets.

The sent is 105 and the receive is 0.

Why is this? The windows vista pc can surf the net but the windows XP cannot access to the internet.

How can i solve this problem?

You have to set up a connection that allows you to connect to the internet via the vista machine. Or you can download a program called network magic. It will do all the setting up for you. Its free for 7 days and after that i think it is $20 but I use it and I love it. It took the headach outta the manual setup with the 6 machines I have running on it. They all have either ms 2000, xp home, xp pro, vista basic, or like this machine vista ultimate 64 bit.
